Nursery Pictures

Here's a few quick pictures of Asher's room. He isn't using the crib yet -- instead, he's sleeping in a cradle next to our bed. However, he is managing to use that changing table. Constantly. Wow.

Cute Mood

Ash was in a great mood this afternoon -- just hanging out, looking around, and enjoying life. Here's a few shots . . .

The "Golden Fire Pig" and More

A few fun Asher facts.....

1. For those who don't know, "Roman" is one of Asher's great-grandfathers' names. Great-Grandpa S kindly agreed to let us use "Roman," and we think it fits the boy very nicely.

2. When Ash is dead asleep -- the mode we call "coma baby" -- he raises both little arms straight above his head. For an example, see the first sepia picture on the "Happy Week-A-Versary" post below. That's how you know that nothing (including a Mack Truck, small bomb, or even Poobah's flatulence) will wake the child.

3. We've always laughed that Ash made "piglet" noises -- little snorting sounds when frustrated. As we've since learned, he was born in the "Golden Fire Pig" year of the Chinese calendar. Hmmmm . . . makes you think . . . :)

Happy Week-A-Versary!

In about 4 hours, Asher will be one week old!

The Check-up

Ash had his first post-birth check-up appointment yesterday. All good news -- his weight was very appropriate, and all signs indicated healthy. It was nice to get confirmation that he is doing well.

We got a few good hours of happy, awake baby today. Here's a few highlights . . .

Just loved this picture.

Asher got his nights and days mixed up for a few days there, sleeping all day and "exploring" all night [insert yawn here]. But, he's sleeping at more appropriate times and more soundly now. Occasionally its TOO soundly, especially when he needs to be eating instead.

Poobah Survives . . .

Poobah has been quietly accepting of the new pack member. In fact, he's shown some empathy, acting caring and concerned when Ash cries. He's adjusting nicely.

(and yes, I'll put up more Asher pictures later. I know people aren't here to see Poobah. But I don't care.)

1 Sleepy Kid + 1 Happy Mom

I realized we had no pictures of mommy up yet. Here's a few to correct that, and a few new ones of Mr. Asher.

Ash is almost exactly 48 hours old now. He slept ALL day -- lets hope he can repeat the peformance tonight!

Day 2 -- Eat, Sleep, Cry, Poop, Repeat

The title of the post basically says it all. Ash is doing great exploring his world. He eats voraciously!! And, he makes a cute snorting noise when frustrated -- we call it his "piglet" sound. Mom and Dad are tired and recovering, but very addicted.

Birthday!

Ash's first day was short, but eventful. We got him home from the birth center around 10 pm. He got to meet Poobah and half his grandparents, then our new family *tried* to sleep.
