Nearly Caught A Smile . . .

Here's the closest I've come to catching a grin. Not sure he's really smiling yet, but this is pretty close . . .

He was in a good mood for a bit tonight, so I got a few extras

Shock & Awe

The world can be a little overwhelming for Ash. Sometimes it gives us big eyes, sometimes it makes us just a *little* bit cranky.

[Ash: Did you guys see this giraffe?!?]

And Ash enjoyed some time with Great Grandma S

Over a Month! (Wow)

As of last Wednesday, Asher is over 1 month old. Totally amazing.

He's a pretty handsome kid. Of course, I say that without any bias whatsoever.

The pacifier is always popular, though we have to limit its use a bit.

And the pudgy little legs and feet are just neat.

Over The River And Through The Woods . . .

Ash visited Grandma and Grandpa F's for dinner tonight.

New Pictures of My New Family

Ash didn't even have the good manners to smile for the picture. Geez. Kids these days!

424.9 Hours of Life

But who's counting?

A few pictures to celebrate such an important milestone . . .

[Note from mom: We've changed at least 424 diapers -- how does that work?]

Baby's First Bath

Since his little belly button is officially healed now, we were able to give him his first real (non-sponge) bath. He was interested at first, then vaguely tolerant, and finally became . . . um . . . frustrated. But now he's clean.

The Diaper Mafia

The glamor of a gangster life has apparently captured even my 2-week old son. Doesn't he look like a little hoodlum here?

He's even flashing baby "gang signs"!

Ah well, he's got plenty of time to reform. :)

[For his sake, I really hope that Asher ends up with a better sense of humor than his father . . . Good luck, kiddo . . . ]

Diapers Aren't Free, You Know.

It was dad's first day back at work. Bah humbug. The two weeks went by waaaay too fast. Frankly, I demand a recount -- there must be a hanging chad someplace.

Anyway, here's photo evidence that I'm a productive member of society again.

Mom and Ash spent the day learning what life without my constant presence would be like. They look pretty happy, if you ask me!

Grandma & Grandpa J

I just wish they looked happy about the little guy . . . hahaha . . .

Experiments in Comfort

Today we tried new ways for Ash to relax.

The swing? Not so popular....

[doesn't he look tiny in that swing???]

The sling? Still pretty awkward (for everyone), but we're working on it . . .

In the end, Asher still prefers the basics -- sleepin' on mom!

Meeting Grandma J

Grandma and Grandpa J got into town this evening and were able to visit with Asher for a bit. Here's the first few good shots with Grandma . . .

Crabby, Crabby, Crabby

To show I'm not ungrateful, the good news first: Ash slept pretty well last night. Hooray!

BUT, he was super-grumpy all day. See?

And now the twist -- here's a closer picture of the decal on the outfit he wore most of day . . .

Oy.

Diagnosis: Newborn

Ash had a checkup with the pediatrician this morning. He's doing great, no worries. Humorously, where the chart said "Diagnosis?" the doctor simply wrote "Newborn." hahahaha. I guess that about covers it.

Remarkably, he's gained more than a pound since his checkup last monday!!! Such growth makes mom feel slightly better about the feedings at 11:30 pm, 1 am, 2 am, 3:15 am, 4:40 am, etc, etc, etc.
