Sleep Update . . . With Awake Pictures

Ash is sleeping much better these days. We had a nice streak where he gave us about 7-7.5 hours straight each night for a few days. That was awesome, but of course it didn't last (yet).

He usually crashes about 9-10 pm, sleeps until 3-3:30, and then is out again until 6:30 or 7. Some nights better, some nights worse -- its still a bit unpredictable -- but at least he's not nocturnal anymore.

Rock & ROLL!

Ash learned to roll over! He managed his first unassisted flip on Thursday. Oddly, he goes back-to-front but hasn't learned front-to-back. (I'm told by those more educated in these issues that front-to-back is more commonly done first.)

Here's a pic of him on his stomach the first time he flipped!

Since then he's perfected the technique. It goes something like this:

Step 1: Lay flat on back, stretch out, think
Step 2: Kick legs and flail arms. Dunno why, it seems to help. (If it ain't broke . . .)

Step 3: Pull legs toward chest, and roll onto right side.
Step 4: Get sufficient momentum, flip to stomach, and then look around like a proud (and slightly goofy) kid.

Inquisitive One

Dad's Birthday

And it was Dad's best birthday ever. Okay, there were no big gatherings, no wild partying, and no surprise gifts. But, I got a nice, home-cooked meal, too much cake, and time with my kid.

[Please note the old t-shirt, slobber on my shoulder, and child looking bored. This is reality, people. Uncensored and unedited. And Asher's still that handsome. Amazing.]

I'm now old. Nah, not really.

One Happy Day

Yummmm.... Tasty Fist

Asher has largely given up on the pacifier. Once in a while he'll take it for a minute or two, but he now prefers to suck, chew, and generally drool on his hand.

As you can see, he's not picky about what part of his hand he gets in his mouth. Knuckles are fine. A finger or two is okay. A thumb is great (but rare)!

He's drooling soooooo much, its quite possible he's going to be an early teether. Ah our little fist-slobbering-tooth-growing-prodigy kid. :)

Sorry for the Delay

But there's a bunch of new pictures and posts below. And more to come. Here's a preview from some shots I got today -- I'll try to get them edited and up soon.

Random Shots -- With a Few Grins

Asher is gi-freakin'-normous now -- he is out of 6 month old clothes and now filling 9 month old stuff. Frightening.

The grins are more regular now, he's more interactive, and we play all sorts of little games.

His favorite game is "I'm going to geeeeet yoooouuu...." followed by a tickling. The suspense kills him and he starts cracking up. [In fact, that's probably how the smiles in these next shots were inspired.]

He's not rolling over yet or crawling (thank god -- he's gonna be a handful), but he's extremely active and very focused on sitting up. With just a little support he can sit straight up on your lap for a while now and keep his head up. It makes him very pleased with himself.

The Wrap Works!

Mom's had continuing success with the wraps. We've been going for evening walks with Asher wrapped (rather than in the stroller), and Ash LOVES it when Mom ties him on and then vacuums.

Mom's been experimenting with various ways to use the wrap -- we've only tried this back wrap a couple of times, but the picture's cute!

And below you can see the usual reaction from the kiddo to being tied on . . . zzzzzzzzzZzzZzZ
